BTS systems are used in design to measure what is called "physical ergonomics", a subject that evaluates the level of coherence in man-machine interaction as a function of dimensions, movement and the forces of the human body.
BTS systems can measure:
- Anthropometrical characteristics,
- Biomechanical and physiological characteristics,
- Posture
- Movements and their repetitiveness,
- Fatigue
Using BTS systems for movement analysis, repeated experiments with users of different characteristics and physical conditions can be easily performed. The exams can be executed since the initial phases of product development using prototypes, mock-ups or models and virtual environments.
The designer and the engineers are consequently able to evaluate the effectiveness of the various design options and the ergonomics impact of every modification.
